A remarkable battalion that did outstanding work during the 1965 Indo-Pak War in the area of village Cheema and Khem Karan-Asal Uttar. Devoid of its Company Commanders and its Specialist Platoon Commanders, the Battalion, under the bold and able command of Lieutenant Colonel Farad Bhatti, faced the main thrust of Pakistan’s 1st Armoured Division destroying 13 Patton Tanks within its battalion area of which 7 were destroyed by a single individual - CQMH Abdul Hamid, whose conduct during the battle is an outstanding example of bold courage, initiative, professionalism and self-sacrifice.
